Manage blocklists
For more information what blocklists are and what formats are supported, please read the concepts section about blocklists.
Add blocklists
To add the first blocklist, click Add Blocklists… in the sidebar of the rules window. For subsequent blocklists use the “+” button right to the blocklists section header.
This opens the blocklist picker:
ITEM | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
1 | Click here to filter the displayed blocklists by category. Some blocklists specialize in tracking, others in malware, and still others in explicit content. Some blocklists even combine several topics. |
2 | Lists all blocklists for the selected category. The orange text above the title tells you in what categories the list specializes in. Below the title, there is a short description, and to the right of each entry is an estimate of the number of domains or servers included in the list. |
3 | Select one or more blocklists you want to add and click “Add” to use them. |
4 | If your favorite blocklist is not contained in our list, you can add it manually by providing its URL. |
Choose the blocklists you want (multiple selection) and click Add to load and activate it. If you entered an explicit URL, the blocklist editor opens (see below) to ask for a blocklist name.
Edit a blocklist
To change the name or update interval of a blocklist, double-click it in the sidebar. This opens the blocklist editor:
Right-click the blocklist in the sidebar and choose Remove to remove it.
Inspect a blocklist
Select a blocklist in the sidebar to see all entries included in the list. You can disable individual entries, e.g. false positives which prevent a web site from loading correctly.
When you disable an entry which is in multiple blocklists, it is automatically disabled in all blocklists. This ensures that false positives can be disabled easily.
Select a particular blocklist entry to shows usage statistics in the inspector pane. Select the blocklist itself in the sidebar to see the blocklist’s properties:

- Right-click it and choose Update All Blocklists to update all blocklists at once.
- Select it to see all blocklists as rules. You can step through them quickly to inspect their properties.
- Select these blocklist rules and hit the Delete key to remove multiple blocklists at once.
- Select All Blocklists and choose Blocklist Entries in the top bar to see a merged view of all blocklists without duplicate entries.
