Internet Access Policy

The Internet Access Policy (IAP) is a mechanism which helps the user with the decision whether to allow or deny a connection. It is available in the connection alert, in Network Monitor and in the Configuration app.

The IAP contains the following information:

The purpose of the app
The purpose of each connection the app establishes.
The consequences if you deny the connection in Little Snitch.

For third party apps, the IAP is provided by the developer of the app because only the developer has the required information. It ships as part of the app’s resources in a small machine-readable file.

For some apps and system processes from Apple, Little Snitch provides the IAP with information found by researching Apple documentation and similar.
