Little Snitch 5 Help

Welcome to Little Snitch

Little Snitch is a powerful tool which helps you protect your privacy and defend yourself against various types of malware. However, in order to use it to its full extent, it is essential that you understand what connections in a computer network really are, what properties describe them and how Little Snitch rules relate to them.

If you are not confident that you have fully understood these terms, you may refer to the section about connections and rules.

First steps

After installing Little Snitch, you are asked two questions:

There is no right or wrong answer to these questions. It’s a personal preference and therefore Little Snitch asks you, the user.

If you decided to use Silent Mode, you are done for the moment. You can review your connections in Network Monitor at any time and create rules with a single click.

If you decided to use Alert Mode, you have probably already seen a couple of connection alerts. Read our section about connection alerts and check Alert Preferences to handle those alerts efficiently.
